CASE STUDY

Imagining what the Future of Stranraer could look and feel like

Context

Towns and villages across the country are working on ‘Place Plans’. A Place Plan describes an area, its needs and ambitions. Stranraer’s Place Plan is a community-led plan, creating working with local people. Our Plan could unlock millions in funding to help transform our town.

What we did

Stranraer was invited to present a Place Plan to Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal Fund by Dumfries & Galloway Council. Borderlands has just under £15 million to be shared among 5 towns: Gretna, Stranraer, Wigtown, Whithorn and Kirkconnel/Kellaholm. This was the catalyst for Place Planning.

With Only Human Ltd We supported the development and delivery of the Stranraer Place Plan which has become the first place plan to be embedded into a local authorities strategic planning.
